New Poll: Site revenue - Google Adsense

After reading a couple of threads recently in my daily forum visits, I wanted to pose the question to my readers, how much do you make online from your sites? Although in this poll I am only including Adsense, I will be making another poll with more options, and then at the end of my testing, will be putting up a graph at Blogtrepreneur, showing the most successful money - making programs and affilliates and the amounts of income people are making with these methods.
I wanted to start of with the notorious Google Adsense, as it is for sure the easiest way for any budding internet entrepreneur to start making $ off your site. The registration process is easy and quick, and the ads themselves are easy to place.
It seems that many people are already making good money out of their website efforts, and I wanted to know rough figures to see how well my readers and other visitors were doing.
I thought it would be good if I started off the voting at $0-30 per month. However recently, this figure is picking up, so I’m hoping to move this up to the next level soon, with the arrival of my Golf Forum.
So please, take some time out to vote through the buttons in the lefthand sidebar, it only takes 1 click! And I will be posting the results back here in 1 week’s time.

I’m making enough to cover the monthly cost of the site
I make very little from Adsense, but then I pay next to nothing for my hosting so it doesn’t matter that much.
Nice one Dennis and Paul.
I suppose if at least you can match your monthly costs then that would be considered a success. But having a bit more extra profit would be a great bonus, wouldn’t it!
I’m not sure if covering my costs counts as much of a success, but my Adsense income does seem to be slowing increasing over time and I have lots of ideas for new sites so I hope there will eventually come a point where I start earning a reasonable amount from it. I also need to try other programmes at some point as well.
So long as you’re happy with what you’re earning in light of your costs of the site. I hate to see people that are so obsessed with making Adsense $$ that they don’t see the real benefits of blogging, like making new acquaintances and partnerships (I used to be like that once!).
Other programs like YPN and BlogAds, Adbrite I will try to account for in future polls as well, to give the best metrics and money making programmes.
Thanks for your input Paul.
Check out the forum!
I think that you should check out the AdSense tutorials on ad placement and colours etc. Awesome and free advice.
I believe that Google AdSense is an awesome program. All you need is traffic, patience, more traffic. I don’t think monetizing your site ends with AdSense though. I’m at the very beginning of this endeavor and yet I’ve learned so much. I think once you reach a good place you can look at selling advertising space on your site in combination with your AdSense code. Back to the whole point of this topic - there seem to be two schools of thought; 1) Blending your ads in with the text on your site; 2) contrasting colours to let your ads stand out. From the small tests that I’ve done (using channels) I have found, for me, that trying to make my ads look like a continuance of my text doesn’t work as well as having a border matching the main and darker colour of my site - it stands out but blends well with the site as a whole. I think that above all placement is important and you should really check out the Google AdSense tutorials on the topic.
Thanks Liz.
I’ve occassionally skimmed through the Official Adsense Blog - but maybe its time to take a closer look at their site - you’re right it is packed with loads of useful information.
Yeah Im just waiting until my site is properly indexed in search engines. Then Im hoping to sell Text Links on the site which will be much more lucrative.
I’ve never put a border round my ads, it makes them look to obvious. I think overall I’d rather have my ads blended in with the content so it doesn’t distract readers too much. I’d prefer to have a happy community than a few extra clicks. But if those extra clicks bring in a few dollars per day, then maybe its something to think about!
Thanks for commenting Liz.
