New Digg.com Improvements

July 11th, 2006 · 2 Comments

Now while I may not be the first one to say this, I’ve recently noticed how beneficial Digg.com has become for Business and Young Entrepreneurs. With the new Digg version, has come a chance to view not only technology related articles, but also Science, Videos, Entertainment, Gaming, and most importantly, World & Business.
This new section is more important for us young entrepreneurs, because now we can search for entrepreneurial and small business related news.

Also, I was especially impressed with the new Digg Adsense layout. Firstly, the Leaderboard ads appear in a grey box. Also when you hover the cursor over the ads, the border becomes “highlighted” and the text turns a different colour.
Now I do happen to know that changing the way Adsense ads are displayed is strictly against Google TOS’s, but Google have permitted select sites to change the coding. As a result, I think such sites as Digg are getting a much improved CTR rate, and understandably so. I find it satisfying seeing the ads now, as they are extremely soft on the eyes!

Finally, although I definitely won’t be getting one, you can now order your own Digg.com T-Shirt at the bottom of the index page. Who wants to see Blogtrepreneur t-shirts coming out soon?

If you thought this post was good, you haven't seen anything! Why not:

I like the new Digg.com ads as well, I wonder if Google will ever allow all publishers to change the code or - even better - add an option to the AdSense control panel that will do it for you if you want that sort of effect? It seems like a good idea, especially if it results in more clicks because both Google and the publisher benefit.

That is true, as the new border will definitely look more visually appealing to publishers’ sites. Hmmm maybe this is a question for someone to ask Google about.
