  • I’m into Text Link Ads Publisher Program! + Feedvertising

    3 October 2006

FeedvertisingOh happy days! Yesterday I finally got the long awaited email from TLA telling me that I had been accepted into their Publisher Program. As you can see in the left sidebar, I have added a new section called “Featured”, and because it is above the fold, this should encourage advertisers to buy space on the site. Im not listed in the Text Link Ads directory yet, but I should be soon. Here is some of the information that they sent in the acceptance email,

“Please note the price we will be selling links off this page: http://www.blogtrepreneur.com is between $10.00 and $25.00 per month per link.
We will sell a maximum of 8 links on this page so with our 50% revenue share policy your site can make between $40.00 and $100.00 per month if we fill all 8 ad spots with advertisers.

*Please note final pricing is set in this range by Text Link Ads based on current market demand.

Once we have filled the 8 spots on http://www.blogtrepreneur.com we will invite you to submit your other top pages and we will continue to fill your individual pages with ads and increasing your monthly income.
Your check will be mailed to you the 1st of every month. You can login to your account at any time to monitor earnings.

    Text Link Ads

Unfortunately, I was expecting a little more money from them, however it was my PR that probably let me down (although PR4 is still very good for a 3 month old site Im told!) If you want to buy an text link ad space here on Blogtrepreneur.com, follow these steps:

    • Sign up with Text Link Ads using my referral code please (this means that I get $25 commission – so you’ll be supporting my blog in more ways than one!)
    • Search for “Blogtrepreneur” in the searchbar of TLA and order either a text link or an RSS ad (explained later) or both if you want optimal exposure for your site. This will mean PR juice and traffic!
    • Complete the payment process and I will approve your ad which will appear instantaneously here in the sidebar and feed of Blogtrepreneur – how simple is that!

Along with selling Text Links on all my blog’s pages (roughly 125 so far), I have also put Blogtrepreneur down to sell Text Links in my feed. This is all thanks to an ingenious new system called Feedvertising. The basic idea is that most people use RSS these days, which means that your sidebar links will not be seen. The option to have text links in your feed will mean that RSS subscribers still have adverts (although there is no Pagerank benefit to your site). Unfortunately Feedvertising is only available to WordPress 2.0+ users, but fortunately for me I updated my version of WordPress a few weeks ago. This is because you must download a plugin which enables ads in your feed.

Im not sure if I will sell any of the 4 RSS spaces I have up for sale as this new method of advertising may not have cottoned on, but its worth a shot, and if I don’t sell any, then Im still free to put my own custom messages and links at the end of every feed post!

All in all, Im happy with the smooth runnings of TLA, and now I just have to wait to see if I’ll sell anything.

I’m sure you’ll sell your ad spots. I haven’t sold any of the RSS feed spots just yet, but I’ve sold out 10 spots on both my listed sites. (http://www.thatedeguy.com and http://money.thatedeguy.com).

I’m waiting to build up a little linkage for a third site and I’m excited to see if some of the RSS feed ads will sell or not.

      good luck and congratulations!

Congrats on the acceptance. I tried to sign up nearly two months ago and I wasn’t too impressed by their methodology. The ‘evaluated” my blog with some sort of robot process in minutes and rejected me saying, among other things, that I seemed to already be selling Text Link Ads. Bit of head scratching over that. I did sign up for the affiliate program and they get more than one visit a day from me but none have, as yet, converted. I think I’ll put the real estate back into something else … apparently they work well for selling ads for selling ads but they don’t seem to have the inventory to interest potential advertisers in many other areas.

Best of luck on your sales.

Thanks thatedeguy and Dave. As of yet, Im still unlisted in the TLA directory even though I should have been in there yesterday, but I’ll wait for a few more days. Well done on selling your spots thatedeguy, how much are you getting from TLA for that?

Dave – yeah a few months back I got rejected but my site was only 1 month old then so I wasn’t that surprised. The affiliate program has only brough in one conversion for me, but that’s because of a contact I made on MSN. All the buttons and links don’t seem to be working!

On another note, I got an email from the guys at Adbrite about selling adspace. Im going to put a space under the TLA Featured Section and see what happens. If I can earn some extra $$$ then great, if not then Im not that bothered.

      Thanks for your comments guys

This was my first month over $100 and I only started in late June. Next month, the TLA site says I should expect a check for over $200.

I can’t wait until some of the RSS space starts selling. It makes for some really nice extra income.

Congratulations, Adnan! I was just turned down myself with a similar experience to Dave’s. I’m guessing it has mostly to do with my site being only a month old.

I didn’t even get any love in the new pagerank update! I had hoped to get a little something as my last site had a 3 with less than half my current traffic and links. Oh, well. I’ll have to give it time.

Thatedeguy – nice, is that $100 with TLA taking their cut of 50%? Thats really good anyway, and $200 will be really great. Im still not listed in TLA, but I got an email saying that they’ve got a bit of a backlog with publishers. But I have got some really exciting news about Adbrite so see my next post! Tell me if you manage to sell any RSS. At the moment I’ve just got my own ads in my feed.

Ray – thanks mate. Yeah I got turned down just like you 2 months ago. The main thing is to just write, write, write and you’re bound to get backlinks from all types of site. The initial 3 months of hard work is worth it in the long run.

Unlucky with the PR update lol. Its a bit hit and miss but you shouldn’t be too down about it. As I said keep working away and you’ll come out a whole lot better in the next update in 3 months. Then the real monetization can start!

yes. That’s after TLA takes their 50%.

Thanks, Adnan. It was a bit of a downer, but I’m going to hang in there. I’ve got a bunch of other ideas I’m trying to get off the ground now, too. Hopefully, one or more of them will take off. At the very least, I’m having fun with it!

    9. adnan October 6, 2006 at 8:11 pm #

thatedeguy – cool, $200 after the 50% would be really awesome and would mean some really nice passive income. Nice work.

Ray – yeah hang in there buddy! So long as you’re having fun and you’re not ending up in complete financial loss then that’s the main thing. Just up the production and you’ll be on the road to happiness with a nice little bit of pocket money as well!
