I guess the days of the $100,000 checks like that of Shoemoney are gone. I mean, even John Chow doesn't use adsense anymore even though he used to earn by the thousands per month. What gives?

Adsense just doesn't pay anymore. I used to get to the $100 mark in 2 months, now I'm lucky if I can break it in 3. So yes, the money just stays with Google ...

There are many other ways to make money now as everyone is realizing that Adsense doesn't pay the bills.

Congratulations! :) I haven't even reached the $50 mark yet but stories like this give me hope that with hard work, I, too, will reach that hundred dollar mark one day.

I'm on target to crack the $100 mark in about a month figuring in my site's growth rate. It's exciting to see money coming in from side projects like this. Makes me think, when will this not be a side project anymore?

congrats adnan,

looks like we reach the $100 in the same month..a good start for 2007 huh.. ;)

I agree on you about reading books on adsense. I believe to earn well from adsense is to get started right away and learn which work best as you tried it....ebook are just like a reminder for certain things that you might have mislook...that all... :)

can't wait to see your screenshot tho...

regards,
KeVin

Lol thanks Iqbal. I havn't read many ebooks on Adsense merely because there isn't that much to learn. To really get your hands dirty, I would suggest that you get a domain, hosting and download wordpress and get playing around with positioning and blending of the ads. But good luck with that. anyway.

Paul - oh right I didn't know that - learn something new everyday!
Lol yeah I know it does get your hopes up when you login and realised you made a dollar. But using the extremely crappy exchange rate that only converts to 50p! Dam the UK's stronger currency!

AdSense didn't always have the $100 barrier, Google used to pay by cheque at the end of each month if you'd reached $100 or more, but they also paid you at the end of the year (by cheque, as BACS payments weren't offered back then), regardless of how much you'd made.

It does seem a bit silly though that Amazon can offer payouts at £10 (less if you're selling things via their marketplace rather than as an affiliate) but Google insist on holding on much longer. It would also be nice if they converted my AdSense earnings to sterling on the control panel rather than just when they paid me.

[...] Just a shoutout to Adnan for breaking the $100 AdSense hurdle! I remember jumping that hurdle not too long ago (and then realizing I’d knocked it down anyway because my tax info was incomplete) and it felt good. Of course, judging by the number of TLAs on his sidebar, I’m sure he’s much happier with his earning from alternate sources. • • • [...]

Angela (lol I love that pic as well), Alfa, Andrew and Ray thanks so much for the encouragement and I really couldn't have done it without you guys!

Alfa - you're right. When you finally achieve a goal it really is something to celebrate about even when it is as small as this.

Andrew - yeah the US conversion rate is a real bummer! The rate today is 1.98!!!! That's insane and pretty crap for me. Wow I should be buying loads of stuff from the US and save a lot of money.
But £50 is better than nothing and beats getting that money for working in a supermarket!

Hey Ray! Congrats on your increasing Adsense.

Finally Melayu don't despair. Keep writing daily and engaging in conversations with others and you could soon find yourself managing a blog thats income is a few dollars per day.

Thanks again guys for the incredible support. The last 10 months of blogging have been a rollercoaster ride!

Congratulations Adnan, its a great feeling. Only down side from a U.K perspective is the weak dollar. You'll be looking at a payout near £50 mark, Only a year ago your payout would have been closer to £60. Its still £50 in your pocket now reinvest!
