My First Recurring Affiliate Commission

Posted on 23. Jul, 2007 by in Adsense and Affiliates

So I wake up the other day, turn on the computer and logon to Gmail as part of my morning routine. When I get to my Inbox, I find that I have 2 emails from Yaro Starak:

Blog Mastermind Referral

When I open them up, I find that I’ve received $20 as commission for referring Jeff Christman to Yaro’s Blog Mastermind Mentoring program. So, Jeff, if you’re reading this, thanks buddy! This is my first ever recurring commission (so I should be getting paid $20/month for as long as Jeff is on the course) and really, my first ever real commission (apart from one off TLA payments), so I’m pretty excited about the extent to which I can gather a continual referral income (especially since I only did the one review of the course).

And it should be noted that Yaro got the other $57 which made up the total sale price of $77. If any of you guys have tried Blog Mastermind could you tell us how you found the experience and maybe give us a short review of the site and its features and how it’s worked for you so far. It would make a great case study.

I have downloaded his ebook, but I have not yet made the investment in the program. Maybe we can convince Jay over at Online Opportunity to be the guinea pig. He does a bang up job of paying for, then reviewing programs like Yaro’s that advertise they will help you make money.

Congratulations Adnan – now let’s hope Jeff is happy with what he finds in Blog Mastermind.

Also – We’re going to increase commissions for affiliates very soon, so you will get more per sale.

Definitely way to go. I can say first hand that Yaro’s Blog Master Mind Course is worth every dollar. If nothing else he give clear concise instruction that doesn’t clutter the mind. So much of the information product and internet marketing space seems to be filled with distractions rather than focus. Yaro really puts it in focus so you can move forward with your projects. There have been some new bits along the way for me and he has also confirmed some things I suspected but did not have proof of, so all in all I am in for the long haul. As long as he continues to produce value, then I will continue to pay and pay attention.

Thanks for sharing the encouraging news and congratulations on the commission. I hope it is the first of many more to come.

Haha yeah, and Tyson, if you do manage to convince him, then convince him to use my affiliate link to signup for it as well ;). It’s a good way to make some affiliate commission, as your readers will be able to trust your judgement more if you’ve actually tried the product yourself.

    Thanks Chris and Graham.

And Yaro – thanks for dropping by and I just want to say congratulations again on the release of BMM. It really must have been lifechanging and I’m sure you’re gonna be much better off (finance-wise as well) because of it.
Wow increased commissions! So if I’ve already made a sale, will that % automatically increase from $20, or will I have to make new sales to take advantage of the better %?

Finally Charles – thanks buddy. I’m glad you enjoy the course – and again testiment to the man Yaro! Just reading his lengthy blog articles you can see that he really knows his stuff. And yeah – I too hope that this is the first of more commissions!

    Thanks guys for dropping by.

Hello! I’m a Blog Mastermind Mentee. I am enjoying it so far. It has started off slowly for an experienced blogger, however soon Yaro is going to release an “Advanced” series of elessons which should be good. That being said, there is always at least one tidbit of information in the elessons that I have enjoyed.
It’s not just the elessons of course. I really love the video blog case studies he does of our blogs and also there is some inspirational/motivational audio material which is awesome. I’m in for the long haul as well.

    Congrats on the sale!

A rolling commission is a pretty good thing to have, and fairly rare too – I haven’t seen many when I’ve been looking at affiliate schemes. A downstream scheme where you get commission on your referral’s commissions would be even better.

Personally I’m not convinced about the usefulness of programmes which tell you how to make thousands of dollars per month, but presumably enough people must find that they work otherwise they wouldn’t keep paying for them.

@ Carlie – that’s great and it’s sort of one of the reasons why I hesitated purchasing the product as well, because I felt that I wouldn’t really learn that much “new” material. Yeah sometimes words just don’t cut it, and I love the way Yaro is using video to make sure that everyone gets the vital bits of info. Glad you’re enjoying it.

@ Paul – yeah same, the only other affiliate program I’ve really looked at is the TextLinkAds one, where I make $25/referral one-off. That’s pretty good but some months you get a few, other months you get none.

Yeah the downstream scheme would be great – maybe Yaro could implement it further to please his affiliate ;) There are various levels I’ve seen in the admin interface, but the FAQ says nothing of a Level 2 referral.

In general, I wouldn’t tend to buy these sorts of products, but Yaro’s got a great reputation and his knowledge of blogging is second to none, and he’s managed to build his business blog up to a great level – so if he can – then I want to know how he did it!

    Thanks for commenting.

Well done on the recurring commission. But I wonder why you would promote a product or service that you have not purchased (or have not tried).

“If any of you guys have tried Blog Mastermind could you tell us how you found the experience and maybe give us a short review of the site” – reading between the lines, seems you are not a member of Yaros’ course.

Thanks Gary. You’re right, I’m not a member of Yaro’s course. I feel that I’m an “experienced blogger” not a professional one, but I think that I’ve built up the tools and knowledge of the blogosphere that one needs in order to be successful. The only thing thats keeping me back is my commitment to posting, which can’t really be taught – only motivated.

But you’re right, I can’t really recommend something I havn’t purchased. But I read the Blog Profits Blueprint and have followed Yaro for a long time and so can nearly guarantee that his information will be top-class. It may be a better idea to buy the course and then do a full review – it could even end up to be more lucrative!

    Thanks for dropping by buddy.

No luck with referring that program yet here, but the recurring commissions would kick ace.

The user interface and the design of the website you linked is not so great. I don’t read all the content and sales copy crap they add on web pages like these. Plus it is a PR0 site. How did you find about this and came to know if it is legitimate or not?

Jason – affiliate marketing would have to be one of the hardest arts to making money online. It not only requires a lot of traffic, but you need the perfect copy, something which I try to work on everyday through my writing.

Hi Rosie – this page I linked to is a typical example of a Squeeze page. It’s a very normal way of getting people to try to subscribe or buy your product. For bloggers, our whole sites can be examples of squeeze pages, which in turn encourage people to signup for our RSS feeds.

It’s PR0 because its a new site. It’ll probably shoot up to a PR5 or beyond in the next PR update. Plus checkout the Alexa ranking. @ 19,000 that’s a whole lot better than my blog!
Hehe I know it’s legitimate because it’s owned by Yaro a notorious Internet Blogger. Checkout his blog here:

Recurring affiliate commissions are really great. Even if u stop blogging, u get paid as long as the referral account is active. And thats real beauty.

Are affiliates more successful through blogs? I’m an affiliate and I currently have my own website … not a blog, but I often hear about affiliate success from a lot of bloggers. Can someone compare and contrast the 2 for me?

    Thanks!

Interesting. I’m gonna browse over to Yaro’s blog and check this out. Recurring commission through online affiliate…didn’t know it existed. Learn something new everyday.

  21. Recurring commissions are definitely an excellent way to go. It’s often hard to get conversions, so if you can get continuing income for every conversion, it’s going to be much easier to build up a lucrative business promoting products created by other people. The key is to always be testing and tracking. You need as much demographic information from your visitors as you can get so that you can match them up with the right recurring commission offers.
