OK, so that title was a massive exaggeration. But deep down I am pretty pleased with my DealDotCom performance so far, seeing as how I’ve only got 7 first-tier affiliates.
This is only an extremely short post, but I wanted to know how you guys are getting on with DealDotCom. Are you an affiliate, what are your earnings like? If you’re a buyer, how has the service been for you?

Are you paid per sale with DealDotCom?

I have 10 tier 1, and 13 tier 2 affiliates, and have made $4.50 so for. I think there is some potential to get a good passive income if you can build your affilates under you.

Guess I’m going to hold a contratian view on this one. DealDotCom seems like a solution looking for aproblem to me … and it is not a very good deal. A majority of the things they sell are avilable through Commission Junction and their prices are similar if not more than the Affiliate’s net price (it’s legal to buy an item for your own discount on CJ, read their terms of service).
I won’t knowingly offer any of my readers “deals” which they can readily get somehwre else for the same price … anything you see on DDC that you feel is a good deal you should think of selling on your own affiliate link … and if you don’t think others would buy it? Then why on earth would you? Sorry, I feel this one is a loser all the way.

@ Harry - yep. As an affiliate, you’re paid out of DealDotCom’s profits. So you make 35% of their profits on any sales for Tier 1 referrals, and 15% on Tier 2 referrals. Remember though that you get DDC’s profits so you won’t get the sale price worth.
Congrats Thomas - I remember signing up under you as well, so I’m sure you got credited for that sale my referral made. Yeah there is a great opportunity to make passive income - it just depends on how many people you can promote DDC to. John Chow has that type of readerbase which means he can get a lot of signups within a few hours.
@ Dave - you’re entitled to your own opinion. In terms of the products, I’ve seen some good ones, and I’ve seen some terrible ones. The Wordpress plugins have gone down well, especially in the internet marketing community, and I thought about purchasing it myself. But as you said, if you go to the actual Sales’ pages of the products, some of the “deals” you get, aren’t that “dealish”. And you can get round the system and pay a lower price with CJ.
Good discussion, and I think so far that people have tended to form sides on DDC already. At least it’s better than everyone jumping on the bandwagon at BlogRush though! (including myself - I may reconsider that one after the traffic analysis).

Hmm.. You think with 8 affiliates you would have made more money. I still don’t get affiliate programs.

Well I made $8.05 so far! 25 1st tier and 14 2nd tier referrals so far!

@ Net Hustlin - I dunno. 8 Referrals isn’t exactly a lot, and I’m sure most of those where people just signing up to check out the system, not to buy anything. But there is a lot of potential if you have more signups as JohnChow and gang demonstrated.
@ Warrior - hehe this post was more of a joke than anything. That $1 though was easy money, which is the best part.
@ Gnaka - congratulations, that’s easy money for you too, and you seemed to have signed up quite a lot of ppl.

Multiply what you have done so far by 1000, and then you could consider it a massive success :).

Hey those stats are small, but sound great. I bet over time they will surely increase. Good luck!

I have never used it before. It’s the first time that I hear of it here.

I guess I don’t see the appeal in not really knowing what you’re going to sell from day to day, and not having any control over the quality of product being pushed. I agree with Dave Starr on this one - it’s a “solution looking for a problem.”

I promoted DDC quite a bit with a featured post on my blog (~200 subscribers) and to alot of my friends. I am quite dumfounded as to why I have 0 affiliates.
Regardless, after reading this post and the comments I am probably going to remove my widget and affiliate links to DDC due to the dismal revenue.
