But you forgot pMetrics for Statistics.
4 Flood of Dollars // May 24, 2007 at 5:56 am
Xoom payment method for non-US citizens is great, too, for those who would like to monetize their sites via donation.
5 Paul // May 24, 2007 at 8:21 am
Some of the hosting companies you’ve mentioned run affiliate programmes if you’d like those links to make you a bit of money as well.
6 Adnan // May 24, 2007 at 8:57 am
Thanks for your comments guys, don’t forget to Digg the article too!
I’ll add those tools you mentioned.
Paul - At the moment I want to keep the links affiliate free as it may damage the reputation of the article, but definitely once the initial hubub has died down, I’ll be optimizing with affiliate links!
7 DotSauce Domain Magazine // May 24, 2007 at 9:41 am
Nice list, thanks for putting the work in.
8 Nadav // May 24, 2007 at 11:37 am
Hi,
I just wanted to drop by and say that it’s a great list, especially for newbie bloggers or people who are considering blogging, but don’t know where to start.
I have also blogged about your post on my blog, and linked it here.
Great list so far, and I’ll be sure to come back to see if there are any updates :-).
9 adnan // May 24, 2007 at 11:46 am
Hey Mark and Nadav - thanks for the warm words and the linkups, the list is growing by the hour, so don’t forget to come back to see the newbies!
10 Billy Mac // May 24, 2007 at 2:25 pm
Great service you offered here. Nicely done.
11 Stephen Ward // May 24, 2007 at 2:49 pm
I was very gratified to see many of my favorite resources not only on the list, but highly ranked. Thanks for letting me know that I’m using the right stuff.
12 cass // May 24, 2007 at 3:55 pm
great list, thanks so much for the resources!
13 David // May 24, 2007 at 4:08 pm
Great list! I love long lists! I also like this ‘101′ article on 101 Steps to Becoming a Better Blogger!
14 youlki22 // May 24, 2007 at 5:05 pm
Very impressive work. I love the lists of resources. But wasn’t it better to link some of your links to more lists. As free blog hosting and paying blog hosting(revenue sharing) sites I have given at my blog.
I have linked your post at my blog. Happy blogging!
15 steveroesler // May 24, 2007 at 6:37 pm
Helpful list, Adnan. You’ve saved all of us some time with useful sites…always a winner!
16 Daniel Hough // May 24, 2007 at 7:52 pm
Actually, Hotmail now gives 2 gigabytes of storage, according to the main page. Just so you know
I’m a fan of Gmail though, personally.
Cool list!
17 The Average White Guy // May 24, 2007 at 7:54 pm
Thanks for the tips…
18 chuck // May 24, 2007 at 7:55 pm
Another free blogging resource is PageBuildr. You can create a full-featured blog, and completely customize the look of your template without needing to know any HTML code.
19 Travis McCrea // May 24, 2007 at 7:59 pm
I really like your post. I would like to suggest e107 as the CMS though for blogging over joomla, while joomla can work as a blog too, e107 is much simpler and more effectivly used as a CMS as well as a blog (either or) and for themes I suggest e107designs.org
20 phplemon.com // May 24, 2007 at 8:08 pm
Great list, thanks for that. Phil
21 Pensador // May 24, 2007 at 8:12 pm
How, great list you got there!
Just wondering, how is the service offered at Namecheap.com compared with Godaddy?
22 Webomatica // May 24, 2007 at 8:21 pm
Cool list - I would add Twitter under communication. I’ll bookmark this to check out the links less familiar to me, though.
23 AoE // May 24, 2007 at 8:24 pm
Excellent list, thank you. One error I noticed though, hotmail offers 2 GBs of space nowadays, not 2 MBs.
24 Jonny // May 24, 2007 at 8:28 pm
What about services like http://www.feedmailer.net and http://www.rssfwd.com shouldnt they fall under feed readers?
25 Jon // May 24, 2007 at 8:30 pm
What a list! Lots of great resources. I found this neat site a few days ago that turns your blog designs into WordPress themes MUCH cheaper ($69 for 96 hours to $349 for 24) than some other places. Link
26 kNotaRobot // May 24, 2007 at 8:35 pm
I would add Skype to your communication list. You can have people call you right from your page…if you both have the free P2P VoIP service installed.
27 basscleff // May 24, 2007 at 8:42 pm
hostsearch.com is a good place to search for hosting companies on the cheap.
livehost.net is one place i have used for the last few years.
28 Paul Levinson // May 24, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Instructive post - many thanks!
29 Rick // May 24, 2007 at 8:53 pm

30 RateYourCertification.com // May 24, 2007 at 9:04 pm

31 abduzeedo // May 24, 2007 at 9:09 pm
Thanks a lot, it’s a very useful list…. maybe flickr under the Miscellaneous…
32 Alessandro Piana // May 24, 2007 at 10:11 pm
I would have put Drupal among the Content Management Systems, for the more savvy out there.
33 Brian // May 24, 2007 at 10:25 pm
Great list, man. I’m so glad to see it catching on with so many folks around the blogosphere.

34 Melissa // May 24, 2007 at 10:28 pm

35 Ivan Minic // May 24, 2007 at 10:58 pm
Brilliant collection of resources!
36 CHAN // May 25, 2007 at 12:00 am

39 Scott Paton // May 25, 2007 at 1:22 am
Hi Adnan
What tool do you use to make the ‘Digg it’ counter on th etop right?
Thanks
Scott

40 pelf // May 25, 2007 at 1:38 am

41 Myo Kyaw Htun // May 25, 2007 at 3:04 am
Thanks much for this list.
42 Keith // May 25, 2007 at 4:55 am
There are a few more vital resources which I feel should be included.
For example, BlueHost offers $6.95 per month for hosting, and yet provides a long list of features, including but not limited to SSH Access, 3TB transfer and more.
Secondly, why I feel Drupal should also be worth mentioning. It is an impressive CMS software.
43 dd // May 25, 2007 at 5:53 am
awesome list, thanks for the great work.
44 Raquel // May 25, 2007 at 6:54 am
How nice! the best resources together.. thank you!
45 syahid ali // May 25, 2007 at 9:53 am
love you post. maybe you should replace adobe reader with foxit reader for foxit reader, free and way faster pdf doc reader.
46 Daniel // May 25, 2007 at 12:23 pm
Melissa, thanks for the support :).
And thanks for the mention on the list. Definitely will be included on my “reader tips” links.
47 Tobbi // May 25, 2007 at 2:08 pm
I think Windows Live Writer is much better than Microsoft Word for blogging
Greets,
Tobbi
48 leo // May 25, 2007 at 5:59 pm
Thanks, great list that gives the whole picture of blogging.
49 david // May 25, 2007 at 7:39 pm

50 Nova // May 25, 2007 at 7:51 pm
Thanks for trackback ;-D
51 CGDotNet // May 25, 2007 at 7:53 pm
Thanks for this list!
May I also suggest http://www.squarespace.com/ for your content management system? I love squarespace and they need to be better known.
This is a very handy list, but after receiving suggestions from your readers, perhaps you may want to do a 2.0 version?
–J
52 Judy O'Connell // May 26, 2007 at 3:07 pm
Great list. Do I see Ning for social networking anywhere? http://www.ning.com/ Glad to see you added twitter.
53 Matt // May 26, 2007 at 3:41 pm
Very good list Adnan. It’s nice to see all of this info in one place!
54 Dave L // May 27, 2007 at 3:41 am
Suggestion: Add Blogdesk for creating posts
55 Piotr Wójcicki // May 27, 2007 at 3:00 pm

56 Piotr Wójcicki // May 27, 2007 at 3:05 pm
I’m very satisfied of adding you to my Technorati favorites. Good luck!
57 paul // May 27, 2007 at 7:35 pm
Don’t forget Ning.com for creating your own social networking network complete with blog, photos, videos, forum, and more!
58 Dave Starr --- ROI Guy // May 28, 2007 at 3:09 am
Wow … this just gets better and better .. now, where to find the time for checking them all out *smile*
I’ll second the advice on E107, I’m not currently using it but did in the past and I have several blogging efforts where I think I will go back to it … WordPress is a great tool but it doesn’t do everything, all the time. Many hosts have E107 available for install on Fantastico so it’s as easy to set up as WordPress.
59 Didi // May 28, 2007 at 8:50 am
Nice list! Thanks a bunch!
60 adnan // May 29, 2007 at 1:23 pm
Hey Guys. Thanks for all the kind words and suggestions. Where appropriate they have been added, so keep checking back for updates!
61 MorganLighter // May 29, 2007 at 2:30 pm
Great list! You might want to keep an eye on Technorati - rumors are it may be going out of business - bummer. Under domain registars - you might want to check out HostGator - they have a great support staff and you can call them 24/7.
62 Matias // May 29, 2007 at 2:37 pm
Great work, I’ll translate it to spanish if you don’t mind.
63 kas // May 29, 2007 at 4:02 pm
You might want to add jaiku under communication. Also, Blogger is still free, right?
64 marcel // May 29, 2007 at 10:04 pm
BlogPostsForSale.com is another alternative for bloggers who want to sell links within their blogs.

Some suggest getting together with ten or more of your friends and join Digg then everytime you submit something, you would at the very least have 10 or more Diggs.
