A few weeks ago, I wrote a full sponsored review of OIOPublisher, created by fellow Brit Simon Emery. In short, the Wordpress plugin is all about easy management of private advertising. I’ve got it installed here at Blogtrepreneur and it has worked like a charm and has really saved me some precious time.
What I really wanted to bring to the fore was a new addition to OIOPublisher for those that don’t want to pay the small fee of $37. Simon has just introduced OIOPublisher Lite - and has let me have the exclusive. I’m not being paid, I’m just able to use my affiliate link.

The above screenshot details what you can expect when you get the free download of the plugin. Whilst you won’t be able to manage private banner ads and inline image/RSS ads, you will still have the amazing benefit of having a managed text link and private review sections.
Believe me, these have knocked off hours of my time in uploading images, adding the code into my theme, emailing to and fro with advertisers and collecting payment from them on a monthly basis. I’m sure most of my readers are part-time bloggers and business-owners and so could do with all the help they get in being the most productive with their time.
Again, installation of the plugin is incredibly easy. Simply download the free files, and upload them to your Wordpress blog’s plugin directory. Then activate the plugin and head over to your new “Business” section. Here you can manage your text links and private reviews - and customise to your heart’s content. Checkout the Documentation for more helpful information.
What Are You Waiting For?
This is a fantastic deal, and you have nothing to lose by downloading the files. If you feel that banner advert management would be beneficial as well, then you can pay the small one-time fee of $37 in order to get the Pro version of OIOPublisher.
Once you’ve downloaded the plugin, Simon and I would both love to know what you think of the ad management module and if you have any suggestions for improving OIOPublisher Lite.

Sounds nice, but if it doesn’t do banner ads, doesn’t that preclude about 90% or more of the bloggers out there?
I just got OpenAds set up and it’s pretty nice. There’s some technical to it, but not bad. My only issue with it so far is that it isn’t integrated with Paypal, so I can’t send people to an automated page for signups…

I think this was a good move by Simon to offer a free version. I agree that banner ads are a pretty big thing to leave out, but obviously one of the goals is to make money, so he has to make decisions based on what will help it to sell.

I debated with myself whether to include banner ads or not. I even went so far as to add it in, only then to remove again before releasing it.
Eventually, I’d like to offer all the standalone ad sales functionality in the free version, but until I get the other monetisation streams up and running for users (DigiZine, Adnetwork etc), I need to limit the features in the free version, in order to keep generating revenue for the project.
I’ve had a number of ex-openads users convert to OIO, and most if not all have said that the $37 fee was well worth it - OpenAds is hardcore, and not always suited to personal blogs.

This is a good addition made by OIOPublisher. I’ll try and see how it works.

A good idea on his part, since more than a few people who download the free version will end up upgrading, most of which would have most likely not tried this one out if it weren’t for the lite version.

Yeah agreed. It’s a great little add-on from Simon and to be honest, I can see a lot more features coming, because Simon’s always looking at ways to improve the model he already has.
What is interesting is how he will compete with the upcoming ad management programs like ShowYourAdHere.com from Mark at 45n5.com!

From what I have seen ShowYourAdHere doesn’t look like it has anything that would make me choose it over OIO Publisher.
