Build An Email List With OmniStar Mailer

April 9th, 2008 · 12 Comments

Many of you Make Money Onliners use affiliate marketing in order to generate income and I am sure that you have heard that one of the secrets to successful affiliate marketing is having a great “list.”

If you are a budding internet marketer or have been considering building a mailing “list” for any reason then you want to give this review a serious look and see if it could be for you.

Omnistar Mailer

Omnistar Mailer

The company we are reviewing is OmnistarMailer and what they have to offer is a web based email marketing software that is capable of meeting all of your mailing list needs. They accomplish this by offering a web based PHP mailing list software package that they claim to be very easy to install.

They got my attention early when I noticed that they are so confident of that claim, that if you cannot get it done with their instructions, then they will install it for you. Free.

We’re off to a good start so far.

They also claim that once it is set up, it requires no technical knowledge from there to use. This is a huge plus for someone like me who doesn’t have the time or inclination to spend hours fiddling with code.

I want a simple and easy to use interface and after using their Demo feature, it appears that Omnistar offers that. Another bonus for someone like me.

Functionality

I don’t claim to be a mailing list guru but I do know that I have been considering signing up with one of these services. In my head I have a core list of features that I would expect from a mailing list program and after spending some time on their website using the demo software, it appears that they have my needs covered and then some. Here’s what I would want.

  • Form Builder - Omnistar Mailer also has a built in form builder, which allows you to add signup boxes or customize your newsletter signup form on your site in order to gather email addresses, as well other important information to help you market products to your customers.
  • Flexibility - If you are using an existing email list, you can even import them all at once, allowing you to upgrade to Omnistar Mailer easily. I don’t have a list currently but if you do then importing it is a snap and should pose no issues.
  • AutoResponder - An AutoResponder is a MUST HAVE in a mailing list management tool. I am glad to see that Ominstar doesn’t disappoint on this critical feature. In the autoresponder management area you will easily be able to schedule your promotional emails or newsletters at any time or any frequency that you desire.
  • Customization -You can even customize the mailer to receive as much information as possible from your customers. You can track how your customers responded, and target them more effectively by utilizing information gathered with this feature.
  • Branding - If you are a developer then you have the option to rebrand the templates for your clients. A very useful tool and one that will save you hours of coding your own software.
  • Can-Spam Act Compliant - A concern for any marketer is to avoid having your domain labeled as a “spam” domain. Omnistar has several features that ensure that your system is compliant with the Can-Spam laws, including a double opt-in option, IP and Date logging, and finally if for some reason clients would like to un-subscribe from your email list, they can easily do that with only one click.
  • Performance Tracking - Of course you would like to be able to gauge the effectiveness of your marketing campaign and Omnistar Mailer will automatically track every click from your campaign. If your emails contain multiple links it will even go so far as to tell you which links were clicked.
  • Email Personalization - I always like when emails are addressed directly to me and Omnistar Mailer allows you to create UNLIMITED custom fields such as name, address, phone number that you can have your subscribers fill out when they sign up.

They have a number of other features listed on their website but these were my core concerns and I think they cover the bases nicely. In a nutshell I want something easy to set up, easy to use and that can be tailored to my individual needs. So far they appear to have this covered.

Customer Service

I can’t speak for you but I expect a certain level of service from people that I pay money to. I have to be honest and tell you that I haven’t signed up with Omnistar yet so I cannot tell you fact based how good or bad their customer service is. I will say that if you give them credit for the claims they make then you appear to be in good hands.

Some of the things they offer are same day support guaranteed, free telephone support, immediate download of program files upon payment, 12 months free upgrades and support and as I mentioned above, if you are unable to install on your server they will even install it for you for FREE, same day.

Impressive.

A certain level of service is to be expected from a provider but they far exceed my minimum expectations. I haven’t covered everything they have to offer but if you want to read more about them or see an actual demo then check out Omnistars website.

I played around with the demo for a while to get a feel for it and it is exactly what they claim. Simple, easy to use and requires no “technical” ability. So far so good.

Conclusion

I mentioned previously that I have been considering adding an email marketing function to my blog and this review has allowed to me to really dig into what this company has to offer.

I would expect a certain number of features to be included in any program that is available and Omnistar doesn’t disappoint when compared to any that I have seen. I do see two very important differences thought that may give them an edge for anyone looking at a service like this.

The first being that this is a one time purchase price, once you buy it, you own it. No monthly fees, no upcharges and no per email fee. I like that you don’t have any contracts or bills to pay each month. Buy it, own it, use it.

The second difference that I see is the level of service offered. I must say that I am impressed by the claims made by this company and they exceed what I see offered from a competing company that I had been looking at as well. I can’t be fact based on their service level, but if they follow through with their claims then they are about as good as it can get in the service department.

Finally, in case you aren’t sold yet, Omnistar Interactive is offering all of our readers 20% off by simply entering the promotion code blogt when purchasing Omnistar Mailer. Take a look at their site and check them out, they may be just the ticket you are looking for in a mailing manager.

If you thought this post was good, you haven't seen anything! Why not:

Excellent. Great review. “Once off payment” Thats sweet. Brave move going into this market, competing against the likes of monthly providers like Aweber and GetResponse

This looks great but the $257 price tag is a little out of my range for an autoresponder. There are a lot of more affordable services and software available out there. I use iContact which is only $10 per month.

The site looks pretty good and has some great
features, however the price tag is a little bit high
Aweber is on $20 per month.

Looks interesting. And they are giving good service too.

I always prefer to use Awebe but this looks like a nice alternative and I like the one-off payment feature too :)

I’ve also been thinking of formalizing my outgoing email messages - I don’t see much difference between this and open source PHPList - anyone have any experience with that?

Great review! Personally I like to use an auto responder service like GetResponse or Aweber because of email deliverability, tracking and Spam compliance issues.

Aweber is nearly 200 dollars a year so this service is a deal unless you are planning to be done after year 1.

Yeah I agree with Bill. I’m also looking to get an email autoresponder and management system, and whilst Aweber is a more well-known brand, the steep pricing monthly/yearly kinda puts me off, so the one-off fee does kinda look better.

I’ve also heard of some people setting up some job on a dedicated server to deliver mail - I’m not sure how cost effective this would be though…

When I first started out online I opted for a cheap self-hosted auto responder due to money restrictions, but to my horror, I woke-up one day and found the 900 or so subscribers that I had worked so hard for, had been trashed due to a server hack. After that I opted for an account with Getresponse and haven’t looked back since.

I too would like to recommend Aweber … and also suggest my frds to use the same ;)

you certainly get what you pay for with cheap auto-responders, and since your list is the life-blood of your biz, you can’t afford to mess around.

Most people’s choice are GetResponse and Aweber. I prefer the latter.
