I learned in my accounting class at the university from my accounting teacher that walmart makes a profit of 4% on the products it sells, it's no wonder why everyone loves walmart, and goes shopping there. Walmart is still expanding, while other big names are slashing costs left and right.

Hi Adam,

That's a list of inspiring companies. Whether they are giant or not, the point is they prove that recession or any economic storms can be overcome. One element that for me is very important in times of business troubles is innovation.

Hi,
Very interesting observation.
The food, grocery, tobacco businesses do seem to be recession proof.
any examples of smaller regional players in these fields that have beated the odds in this recession ?

Cheers
