6 Proven Ways to Increase Blog Subscribers

Increase Blog SubscribersOne of the major mistakes that many bloggers make is not focusing their efforts on acquiring new blog subscribers.  Most new bloggers struggle with this, but it is also common for experienced bloggers to make the same mistake. Knowing how to increase subscribers to your blog is something that is so important because your subscribers are obviously your biggest asset.  Although getting subscribers can be a challenge, below are some tips that will help you along the way.

1. Make It Obvious

Many of the people who claim that they don’t have enough blog subscribers are the same people who are not making it clear to their readers how to go about subscribing.  Since you want a lot of subscribers to your blog, it’s imperative that you let your readers know that you’d like for them to subscribe by making the subscription forms and buttons very visible.  How can you expect to get subscribers to your blog when you haven’t got a subscription option?  Make sure you’ve got that option, and also brand it along with the rest of your blog.

2. Make It Simple

People don’t like complications. The easier something is, the better it is for most people.  You are taking the chance of losing a great deal of subscribers if you’re requiring that people fill out an entire contact form just so they can subscribe. Asking for too many details will only irritate people and result in a major loss of subscribers to your blog.  Make subscribing to your blog as simple and straight-forward as possible.

3. Ask for it!

Never underestimate the power of asking.  Your readers can read your blog, but they cannot read your mind.  They might not understand that you want them to subscribe without you making it clear to them.  Simply asking them to subscribe can improve your subscription rate greatly.

There are various ways to effectively ask your readers to subscribe to your blog.  Writing a post once a week in which you tell them you want them to subscribe is not an effective method to use. ( Don’t laugh – we’ve seen it!)  A simple and very effective way to ask your readers to subscribe is by placing a button below each post. Placing a button on your sidebar, ‘About’ page, and any other place you can fit one in is also a great idea.

4. Use Landing Pages

Landing pages can be very effective. If you’re in a niche where your readers aren’t exactly the most tech savvy, having a landing page is a great idea. Landing pages will also aide you in increasing your subscriber number because they are solely dedicated to subscribing to your blog. There will be nothing else on the page that may distract your potential subscribers.

5. Comment on Other Blogs

Blog commenting, if done effectively, can be a terrific way for you to increase your blog subscribers. How can you comment effectively? Here are a few tips:

  • Directly link to your landing page or feed URL in your name link (not in your comment).
  • Be consistent when commenting on blogs. People may not take you seriously if they rarely see you, but if you’re consistent with your commenting, people will begin to wonder about you, which will result in traffic to your page.
  • Use an avatar. If you’re commenting on blogs, always use an avatar. People will begin to recognize you the moment they see that little picture.

6. Use Email Signatures

We send and receive email every single day, yet most people don’t make effective use of this opportunity. Why not include a subscription link in the signature of your email?  Any time you send or reply to email, others will be able to see the link, and in many cases subscribe to your blog. Email is more personal, so you can use it to your advantage. People tend to subscribe more if they’ve got a personal relationship with you. You’ve already gained their trust.

You need to take action in order to gain more subscribers.  Take the time to implement some of the above tips, and your number of subscribers will increase even more than you’d hoped!  Oh, and if you haven’t done so already, be sure to subscribe to our blog! 🙂
