Very insightful information for those seeking a bit more help with how to make Twitter work for them and give value to twittering.

Another thing to keep in mind is to interact as much as possible. Retweet and @ people as much as possible and STAY involved, even when your following has grown into the thousands.

      Good, simple list.

The one point that I find issue with is to NOT link your twitter account to other social media accounts. True, doing this might mean that some people get duplicate information, but they are more than likely going to just ignore it if they see something twice rather than get pissed off and stop following you entirely.

For example, I use twitter to find out about news and events in my area but I use Facebook for personal stuff. I follow some of the same people on twitter that I “like” on FB, but I hide everyone that isn’t my personal friend from my FB newsfeed. So really any duplicates don’t bother me in the slightest.

However, people who don’t have twitter might appreciate being able to access the same content from an avenue that they prefer. Thus your message reaches more people and takes no extra work on your part. What’s not to like about that?

The post highlights some great points but I think one very important aspect of any social media is the time that is consumed in the entire activity. As your following grows you need to dedicate a substantial amount of time to get things working or you will find your following and the ROI stagnate. Celebrities do not have such issues because they are well known people and even if they twitter just once a week their following continues to grow due to the nature of their work. Normal people usually burn out after a couple of months unless they get someone else to manage their accounts for them!!

I am going to refer this post to one of my friend who still denies the importance of social media. A couple of years ago many companies were reluctant to use it but now twitter has emerged as a must-have thing. Moreover, for busy internet folks who don’t have much time then one can add powertwitter in browser (firefox) to run twitter in a small aside window and carry out the work along with socializing on twitter.
