10 Ways to Attract the Perfect Customer via Social Media

So you’ve set up your social media accounts and are getting some followers, but you’re noticing that not many people are talking about your brand and your sales haven’t budged. The trick to harnessing the power of social media platforms is to learn how to attract potential customers to your page.

If you have your social accounts ready but are unsure of how to start, try out these 10 methods.

1. Don’t Be Overly Promotional

Nothing drives people away more than companies who only ever send out promotional or overly “salesy” messages. This is social media so be social! People want to feel like they’re talking and interacting with a human, not a robot.

2. Give Them Incentive

Don’t make the mistake of posting the same messages on every single platform. Offering platform-specific deals and promotions will urge followers to look for you on multiple sources.

3. Make It Easy for Them to Find You

Make sure your social media names are your company name and that they are easy to find. On your website and blog (email too!) have obvious links for people to add you on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc.

4. Do a Little Stalking

Don’t be afraid to use your customer email list when creating an account. Most platforms have an “Add Your Friends” option that will find any user who is on your email contact list. Another option is to use a program like Flowtown or Rapleaf.

5. Take Pictures

If you’ve ever wondered why Instagram and Pinterest are widely popular, this is it. Pictures are indeed worth a thousand words. People love to see photos so don’t hold back on sharing ones of your company, products, or similar subjects.

6.  Search for Them

Take the initiative and go look for your perfect customer. Try using social media search options, such as Twitter.com/search, to look up keywords and hashtags that have to do with your company.

7. Put on a Contest

Who doesn’t love some friendly competition and the chance to win free stuff? Get your followers active and involved with your company by hosting a contest for a product or cash prize.

8. Get Personal

Create conversation and answer questions. Too many businesses let this fall to the wayside when they begin to get a lot of followers. Don’t be one. Asking for their opinions and answering direct question builds a positive repertoire.

9. Show Off Your Followers

Take yourself out of the spotlight on occasion and let your followers take over. One area in which this is very popular is the beauty and fashion world. Smart companies will share photos and tips from their followers on their own account.

10. Value Feedback

Show potential customers you care by always responding to their feedback and taking their opinions into consideration. Without your customer base you won’t succeed. If you find a consistent complaint, you should probably rethink what you are doing.
