I understand your first two recommendations. Your third one about not blog commenting, I strongly disagree with. Those comment links do add value back to your website provided those links are dofollow. If you would take the time to do a simple test, you would see that for yourself.

You can build a blog up to where its new posts rank very highly very quickly if you get enough domain authority. And, comments links do build domain authority. Test it for yourself. It is easy enough to prove.

I always wondered if dropping your link in blog comments was a good idea or not. What about if you are a member of a forum and have a link to your blog as a signature for every post you make? Commenting on siues such as yours help SEO as the links are indexed and if the site is relevant to SEO then this will help. My site happens to be an SEO site so I’m sure that this will be helpful to me. You’re right about the URL in the comment field. It just won’t help any more.
