Zoinks, Im A Z-Lister!

At the weekend I received an email from Maki saying that he had added me to the “Z-List”. At first I was a bit confused – was this a meme targeted at those who had the crappest blogs and who were the most awful writers in the blogosphere? I jogged onto Dosh Dosh to have a look at what all this “Z Listing” was about.

Now I’ve visited this blog before and I’ve always thought that the design was awesome (I wish I could have something similar!). Anyway, to quote from the post:

Why is it called the “The Z List”?
Collier named it the Z list to largely as a contrast against “the A list”, a term used to categorize a list of ‘elite’ or well-known bloggers with very popular blogs. The Z List emphasizes the sharing of blogs that are not widely read or known in the blogoshere. I guess you could see it as a shout out for the underdogs and a call for to experience blogs outside of any popularity or link-based ranking system.

Maki and the creator Mack Collier predict that each blog which is mentioned on the list will see a big jump in Technorati inbound links. And that’s exactly what happened with me! Before the Z-List participation, Blogtrepreneur was ranked 35,000ish in Technorati – now it’s ranked around the 20,000 mark and that’s still falling!

In my bid to thank Maki for adding my site and to help give others the chance to experience the full effect of the “linkbait” as it were, I’ll carry on with the trend and post the original list of Z-Listers plus a few of my own which should be on the list in my opinion. These especially come from my feed reader and MindPetals. If you yourself want to participate then scroll to the bottom of the post for instructions.
