Traffic and Your Online Store

Traffic is important for any online store that’s looking to succeed. There’s just no arguing that. If you want your ecommerce site to do well, you need to receive a lot of traffic on a regular basis. This goal doesn’t have to be difficult or particularly time-consuming, however. Businesses that want increased traffic can rely on a handful of convenient and smart hacks. These hacks can often go a long way for ecommerce websites that want to reach for the stars.

Give Out Complimentary Samples

You can promote your e-commerce site’s offerings by gifting popular social media users with complimentary samples. They’ll likely return the favor by promoting your site on their Twitter, Facebook or Instagram accounts. If you want higher traffic for your online store, nothing can beat the amazing power social media holds.

Get in Contact With Popular Bloggers

Ambitious entrepreneurs should always focus on the blogging world. A reputable blog that has a large readership can do so much for up-and-coming ecommerce sites. Send emails to bloggers who write about topics that are in any way related to your business. If you own an Internet store that sells apparel for women, get in contact with fashion blogs that may be a good fit. You don’t have to limit yourself to well-known blogs, either. Lesser known ones can also help you spread the word.

Take Advantage of Message Boards Online

If you want to boost traffic to your ecommerce store, it can also be wise to literally take matters into your own hands. Research some of the most popular message boards on the Internet. Reddit is an example of an online community that has many readers. Zero in on boards that are in line with your business. If your ecommerce shop specializes in makeup, seek out Reddit communities that focus on cosmetics and related topics. Look for threads that seek ecommerce site recommendations. You can then post a brief message that discusses your online shop and all that it has to offer.

Seek Assistance From Your Buddies and Relatives

If you want to significantly boost traffic to your online shop, you should think about recruiting the assistance of your closest buddies and family members. Ask them if they would consider posting information about your store to their social media accounts. Your best friend may post a link to your ecommerce site on his Facebook page. Your cousin may Tweet about your shop on her Twitter account. These actions can all add up. They can all increase exposure for your shop as well. Halocigs.com is a popular online shop that’s known for its exceptional and user-friendly design. This design is a big part of its traffic success, too. People love spreading the word about websites that have enticing and appealing looks. Other ecommerce websites that have strong web design and mass appeal include Lyst.com, Tessaemae.com and UNIF.

Stay Active on Social Media

A strong social media presence is key for any online business that wants to thrive. If you want to get more visitors to your ecommerce store, you need to be active on popular social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. These platforms can do wonders for businesses that want to go viral. If you want people to take time out of their busy schedules to visit your ecommerce site, you have to give them a clear incentive. Use Twitter to post messages about upcoming deals and discounts. Use Facebook to talk about any products you have that may currently be on sale. Your choices are abundant.

Laser-Sharp Focus is Necessary

Businesses that are serious about website traffic boosts require laser-sharp focus. If you want your Internet shop to gain traction, you have to put in a lot of time day in and day out. You have to be creative and think outside the box, too. There are so many ecommerce websites scattered all throughout the Internet. They’re all trying to get ahead just like you are. If you use your imagination, you may be able to gain an edge. Strong concentration skills are a must.

Unfortunately there’s often a disconnect between creating incredible content on a blog or landing page and then converting the traffic you get from it. Webpages must be properly designed and presented in order to consistently convert online consumers. This design will depend on a thorough understanding of buyer personas, competitor websites, value propositions and website analytics. Any website redesign should rely on solid data from legitimate sources like Google Analytics.

Succinctly Present Unique Value Propositions

According to Forbes, when online visitors arrive on the homepage or landing page, they should immediately understand the value of purchasing the products or services. For example, the Internet is swarming with similar email service providers that all offer business customers unique advantages. The best option is to present a call-to-action that is directed at a specific demographic. This means that an email service provider should state that their email service is extremely user-friendly with free email marketing and campaign templates available.

Any small business owner, who will most likely have to do everything by themselves with limited computer training, will immediately appreciate the non- technical simplicity of the offer. On the other hand, calls-to-action for connecting through social media or newsletters should justify the effort by offering exclusive benefits. It may help to use clearly written advantages in bullet points with references to proven facts or research.

Leverage Psychology Principles

Business owners should apply basic concepts of psychology to their web page’s design, formatting and presentation. For example, cognitive psychology reveals that people typically organize their knowledge and experiences in symmetrical patterns. This means that people naturally prefer clarity over complexity because complicated things may lead to potential problems.

A webpage that is crowded with walls of text will turn off online consumers. When consumers are presented with a long product return policy, they are more likely to choose a business with a simple return policy that guarantees no headaches or holdups. In addition to this, a company’s homepage may display multiple calls-to-action, such as signing up, browsing the store, reading news updates or receiving free gifts. A high number of calls-to-action will actually result in indecisiveness.

Refine Calls-to-Actions

A company that simply posts what they feel are incentivizing calls-to-action may be disappointed when online consumers fail to respond. Effective calls-to-action need a short and effective headline paired with an informative infographic to help guide visitors. For example, instead of encouraging online visitors to try a new downloadable product, the call-to-action should state a request, such as “download now,” and clarify the cost, which should be “free.” Keep in mind that some people are visual learners respond stronger to pictures and videos, while other visitors may speak another primary language.

Many websites feel that their lengthy production selection process helps consumers to find the right item, but it also wastes time for who those in a rush or know what they want. Major retailers, such as Amazon and Wal-Mart, feature search engines that result in hundreds of unrelated items. Therefore, offer alternative product selection search engines for the most popular items.

Online Consumer Research

Mapping buyer personas, who are specific groups of potential customers, will help to establish the archetypal consumer for marketing purposes. Optimizing websites based on buyer personas shifts the focus from profits and products to consumers’ needs and wants. People care about themselves and finding answers to their problems, so website designs should be optimized accordingly. Establishing buyer personas will explain decision making processes and clarity how they arrive at final conclusions. Buyer personas can be created through web analytics and interviews with customers. For example, a Lawn Doctor’s lawn care services page will need separate subpages for both residential and commercial clients.

As a final note, it’s important to understand how website visitors’ past experiences contribute to their interpretations of current interactions. To illustrate, many calls-to-action for purchasing an item display a shopping cart button or a button with says “add to cart.” Both of these must be used together because the shopping cart icon has only recently emerged, so many consumers will be used to reading text.

If you want to increase the number of visitors to your blog, you should focus on the topics for the blog and should also use content syndication to increase the exposure for the blog on the Web. Your website format may not be designed to encourage visitors to click on the link for your blog. The content on the website should be organized, which will help a visitor to easily navigate to the next Web page. Keywords can be used to enhance SEO.

1 – Website Format

The information on a website should be organized in a simple layout, which will help a visitor to easily find a Web page on the menu. The link for the blog should be included twice on each Web page such as on the top or side menu and also on the footer. The word “blog” must be displayed on a main menu and should not be concealed in a drop-down menu. The link must be active and should be periodically checked to detect any problems.

2 – Website Content

The topics for the blog can be associated with the products or services of a company. Or they could even be chosen to provide information for the members of a local community, such as information about marathon races or about healthy lifestyles. The content for the articles is very important because a blog is a key component of an online marketing campaign. Managers can use a webinar or a corporate sales training course to learn special techniques for blogging.

3 – Blogs

You can include the URL for your blog on your email messages and can use email newsletters to advertise about your blog. The topics should be chosen to attract the members of a target audience such as homeowners or athletes. Customers may want to have information about the contaminants in water or about the different kinds of bread for a bread machine. You can include detailed information about your products or services such as medical treatments. An RSS feed in an important feature for a blog.

4 – Keywords

Your company and the products can be described with some very important keywords. Those keywords could be asphalt, concrete, bulldozers, patios and pavement. If your blog is for a special purpose, such as recipes for cakes, then the keywords could be chocolate cake, vanilla cake and cake icing. Customers will use those keywords in a browser when they are searching for information.

5 – SEO

The information on a website is categorized by the software for the search engines. The web crawlers can detect the text on a Web page such as your keywords. There are meta description tags that can be used as a summary for the content in an article. When a customer searches for a vehicle on the Web, that customer may use the word “truck,” “car,” “auto,” “sedan,” “SUV” or “ATV.” If that keyword has not been included on your website, then that customer will not find your website in the search engine results.

6 – Content Syndication

Content syndication is a simple method for increasing the exposure for an article on the Web by publishing an article on more than one website, which is similar to publishing the article on your corporate website and on your Facebook website. The method is used to attract customers with more than one Web page. The title for a blog article is a link and can include words for Local SEO such as the name of a city and a state, which could attract local customers.

7 – Navigation

If the URLs for your blog articles are in the search engine results, customers can use those links to access your blog. The crucial factors for attracting customers are simple formats, keywords, Web page design and blog topics. The customers must be able to easily navigate through the Web pages on your website, which should have active links that will successfully redirect a customer to the appropriate Web page.

There are many areas of a corporate blog that can impact readership. By understanding both what your target audience is looking for and how to best address their needs, your organization can more effectively build a relevant audience. From there you can use heat mapping and workflow software tools to determine where to add calls to actions and how best to convert you engaged readers, which is almost always the end goal.

While blogging has proven to be a highly effective platform for promoting brands, sharing ideologies, promoting products and more, it should be understood that it is not as easy has many believe it to be. Even for the seasoned writer, blogging can be a challenge if they do not understand the entire process. Blogging is much more than coming up with an idea and then writing about it. Fortunately, there is a way to simplify the blogging process in a manner that will allow you to produce consistent results.

The most important thing to remember is that you must plan the entire process. Attempting to wing it will not produce the results that you are looking for. You must understand your target audience and determine the best approach to reaching them. You must be consistent with your message.

The Idea Stage of Blogging

It is possible that ideas about topics come in waves, and they come at some of the weirdest times. One of the challenges for bloggers is discovering how to capture their ideas when they are not prepared to transform them into a published article. What you will need to do is develop a system that will allow you to effectively manage the entire process, from ideation to promotion. One of the most effective ways to do this is to use BPM software (BPMS) to help you organize and manage the process from start to finish. BPM software will allow you to capture your ideas, so that you can revisit them when you are ready.

Not only does BPMS allow you to capture ideas, but it will help you operate throughout the process in a more efficient manner — meaning that you will not waste as much time. It will also ensure that you follow the blueprint that you have designed for your content development.

The BPMS will allow you to bring all of your ideas into one place.

The Writing Stage

The most important point to understand about writing is that you write to reach. The most important thing is not to show your readers all that you know in one article, it is to be as lucid in your presentation of the message you are relaying as possible.

It is also important to guard against distractions during the writing process. While writers tend to obsess with grammar and spelling, try not to stop every time that the editor highlights a word or phrase — deal with that when you proofread and edit the article. When you stop while you are writing to confront the editor, you could end up losing your writing rhythm. One way that you can guard against this distraction is writing the original draft in WordPad, which does not conduct grammar and spelling checks. Once you are finished writing the article, you can copy and paste it into Word to edit it.

The SEO Stage

While you should not ignore SEO when writing, giving too much attention to it before completing the article can distract you and impact your writing style. Actually, when you are completely focused on what you are writing about, you will normally do a decent job in optimizing the article for SEO purposes. Keep in mind that keyword density does not carry the gravity that it once did. The most important thing is to write a quality article that is original and relevant.

The Publishing Stage

One of the most important points to consider during the publishing stage is to ensure that the content has some sort of call to action included. Take the time to determine what it is that you want people to do, and then instruct them on how to do it.

Promoting Your Work

While awesome and relevant content is what will cause your blog posts to go viral, the content must be seen first. This means that you must invest in promoting your content. You can share your work on social media and through email lists. You should also consider PPC advertising to boost your site visitors.

While there is no cookie cutter approach to blogging, the aforementioned tips provide a good foundation on which to start. Study your analytic data to determine how to adjust what you are doing in order to be more effective.

Data and Algorithms

The purpose of these algorithms is to re-engineer business processes as humans have always done. Business process re-engineering (BPR) was limited by human speed and understanding. Managers reviewed collected data to make note of trends, influences, and rewards, which were then codified by developers into business intelligence systems. This could be in part a waste of time and resources as business technologies and marketplace strategies changed. However, modern machines can constantly re-evaluate environments and processes through current data. Every transaction is digitally recorded and fed to data marts. Internet tools can gather data in real-time by user clicks and searchers, while a new generation of appliances – known as the Internet of Things – are becoming more intelligent and WiFi connected. The IoT is expected to exceed 28 billion devices by 2020. An incredible flood of data is out there waiting to be used.

Business Impact

BPR garnered some negative reactions when over-eager businesses began transforming too many processes at the same time. Readiness to broadly discard working methods, even flawed ones, resulted in human confusion and squandering of resources that did more damage than good to business operations. But machine-reengineering is off on a different track with a focus on redesigning one process at a time, particularly core processes. This make it much easier to quantify outcomes. However, algorithms can be developed for specific business needs. PNMsoft defines case management software as technology for real-time work allocation in operations centers. Algorithms are ideally suited to augment such practices. Still, only 15% of global corporations are using big data in BPR.

Using Algorithms

One specific area of applied analytics is in marketing, where predictive analytics fits well with sales and advertising numbers, but with advanced algorithms, other important factors such as demographics and language detection come into play.

Analytics is chiefly focused on three basic, attainable goals: cost-cutting, customer behavior, and revenue. While these are not always related or specifically required outcomes, machine algorithms more easily and reliably generate process options than humans searching through trends and perspectives for productivity solutions.

The Benefits

The question is whether these algorithms are creating more business gains than traditional approaches. The answer seems to be a definite ‘YES’. Many of the corporations pioneering analytics have reported significant gains in the above-mentioned areas. This is in part due to automated communication of results to front-line sales, allowing them to adjust strategies according to current customer activity.

For instance, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) databases can be quickly prioritized into the most promising leads per product per region. Analytics becomes in essence a revenue machine directing data-driven efforts, while traditional business analysts can focus on other tasks besides crunching numbers and running reports.

Machine-learning has also led to recommendations for improved processes that lead to better interactions in customer service interaction with clients. The prior trend in customer service involved introducing automation to shorten wait times and resolve common issues. It took machine-learning to drive home the point that human customers prefer human engagement.

Machine-learning presents a new model for designing and suggesting solutions that improve workflow. It empowers ideas that spring from evaluating data too complex and too vast for human analysts to grasp. In some cases these ideas represent patterns that lie outside human experience and recognition. Improved machine-learning algorithms make evaluating business operations of all kinds more efficient and more flexible. Analytics and forecasting are making the transition to an evolving technology that provides more rewards, and faster.

Even in today’s digital world, many businesses still are forced to interact with sales prospects through traditional means of communication. Whether it’s cold calling or responding to a website generated lead, entrepreneurs need to understand how to communicate with prospects. It’s a challenge, to be sure, but here are some tips for making your sales calls more effective.

Trust that There’s Value

Some prospects are very negative, but others will find value in the product or offer your marketing. The opportunity you present might even fill a genuine need. Just tell yourself that you’re searching for just such a person, because that’s what you are doing. Maintain the attitude that your offer has value, and so do you.

Selling is What You Do

We’ve all seen so many bad or obnoxious sales pitches that selling gets a bad rap, even in our own minds. Everybody does some form of selling, whether it’s impressing a date or trying to get the best price for your used car. You just happen to be making money at it. The Department of Labor suggests that over 511,000 people are employed in sales. Selling drives all business, so look at it as an important function.

Understand Your Company and Products

Sales are easier if you know what you’re talking about. If you can’t answer questions, or sound like a robocall, the customer loses confidence and you lose a sale. You are the voice of your company, so make the effort to understand your company’s branding. Your dialogue should both align with and leverage your company’s marketing to utilize brand recognition as a basis for building trust.

Compelling Messages

Odds are that a good portion of your calls are going to go straight to voicemail. Don’t look on this as a lost opportunity, but another sales tactic that can work to your advantage. Come up with some compelling messages. They should include some metric that conveys both value and expertise, in the most friendly tone you can muster. It only takes a few seconds, and when you’ve got the hang of it you’ll be surprised at how many return calls you can get.

The Art of the Deal

Your company policies may not give you much room for negotiation, but use what you can. Upselling and cross-selling are perfectly good ways to earn revenue. If your company offers incentives such as discounts, free shipping for special orders, or free gifts, use those to sweeten the deal rather than laying out the value of your offer in one stroke that the prospect can dismiss just as quickly. If your company doesn’t offer any negotiations training classes, you might want to suggest it as a great return-on-investment that could improve skills – and sales – all around.

Listen to Yourself

Most call centers record calls, and most call center managers listen to them. So you should, as well. Computers or smartphones have voice recorders built in now, so try rehearsing parts of your script or call guide and then playing them back. Understand that your tone of voice and your manner are more significant than the actual words you’re using. Try to not only achieve the right tone, but drive it home so that it becomes second nature.

Follow up

Unless you get a sharp and definite ‘NO!’ there’s a possibility of making a sale. Many people need to hear an offer 4 or 5 times. They might need more information or more assurances before they’re ready to commit. Instead of pushing for a sale, try leading those hesitant prospects down that path, and always try to arrange a callback. You’d be surprised how many sales people don’t even make the effort.

Sales calls are about building relationships. Put yourself in the prospect’s shoes and empathize with their doubts, needs, and expectations. Above all, never let rejection affect you. If you’ve been pleasant, professional, and on-message, you’ve done your job.

The occasional difficult clients and customers are a part of business that will never go away. Every business has them. The only control you have is how you react and address tense situations. Below are a few solid ways to keep the path smooth and business moving forward.

1. Touch Base Frequently

A lack of communication is a setup for disaster in the world of business. It is important to call and greet your clients as often as possible to keep them updated on the business at hand. It lets them know their business is important to you and your company or firm. It is estimated that as many as 44% of US customers and clients switch to a competitor following what they feel is poor customer service treatment. Always keep your clients in the loop.

2. Listen More, Speak Less

There are times we all need to vent, but why does it feel difficult clients pick the most inopportune times? As difficult as it may seem, set aside any activities and thoughts you have rolling through your head and truly listen to what the client is complaining about. Give them good eye contact and listen attentively so that they feel their voice is being heard. Huffington Post points out that only 1 out of 6 unhappy clients will tell you. The rest will walk away and find someone else to do business with.

3. Be Honest and Admit When You Are Wrong

There is no way to be right all the time, nor is there any way to avoid making a mistake now and again. Being imperfect is normal, but being able to admit it, even to the pickiest of clients,is the best business skill you can develop. These are generally the types of clients that look at anything less as being an excuse. Do not be afraid to admit when you are wrong, but be honest when you feel you have conducted business in an upright manner. The most important point is to not be rude or condescending, but state your position clearly and with authority.

4. Never Lash Out

Everyone has a bad day. It makes it seem worse when you have a difficult client coming at you for any type of reason. The worst thing you can do is to let pent up anger over the course of the day build to a point that you lash out at a client. All of the apologies in the world may not be able to rectify the situation. Always stick with an abundance of kindness and understanding. Reschedule appointments if needed on your bad days and find a release for a buildup of emotional energy that seems negative in nature. Take a walk, exercise or listen to some calming music.

5. Stay On Top of Every Detail

Nothing makes a client feel more nervous than the professional they have entrusted not being able to give them specific feedback about the case at hand. Missing the details can make you look inept at what you do. There is specialized case management software CMS available that can help you keep track of things like:

Meeting times and places

Documents

Present and past conflicts

Conflict resolutions that worked

Daily business updates

Goal planning

It is critical that you and your clients remain on the same page at all times. Having this type of software allows you to see at a glance exactly what information your client needs updated with at any given moment. It also makes it easier for support staff to answer simple questions for a client when you are unavailable. Giving a difficult client the best in customer service experiences can make all the difference in how smooth business operates. Understand you are not alone in a world full of clients that at times can seem very demanding. Always answer to difficulties with the most positive outcome in mind.

When it comes to sales, many salesmen tend to discuss the features and functions of the product that they are selling, often to a fault. This is reasonable, as the product is the actual tangible good that they’re selling. However, when it comes to human beings and their decisions to purchase, the purchase to buy is actually reliant on their feelings. Human beings are inherently irrational, and understanding the importance of emotions allows salesmen to be much more effective in making sales and relating to their customers.

Head vs. Heart

Every time a person decides to buy something, a two-part decision is being made. On one hand, they are weighing the rational considerations of the product. On the other hand, they are also being swayed by the invisible web of feelings, emotions, and impressions. Little intangible things like the color of a salesman’s tie, or snippets of pleasant conversation can sway people in interesting ways. Therefore, the truly effective salesperson needs to understand the person that they are selling to, and they need to relate to this customer in an authentic way.

The Personal Touch

Believe it or not, very little of a sales meeting has to do with the actual product being sold. The vast majority of sales meetings are actually about feelings and impressions. When a person feels good about the idea of buying your product, they will buy it. However, a negative impression of a salesperson bleeds into a negative perception of the product. Therefore, a salesman needs to know how to win people over in a way that feels authentic and genuine. It is essential to adopt an attitude of working together, rather than the adversarial sales tactics of days gone by. Listening to customers is the number one skill to making sales and building lasting business connections.

What it Really Means to Listen

Most salespeople can talk until the cows come home, but only the truly exceptional salespeople know how to listen to customers and meet their needs. By listening to a customer and asking useful questions, a salesperson can uncover undiscovered needs, and make suggestions that will help the customer resolve the problem in a way that a canned sales speech cannot.

Making small-talk is massively underrated, as the effects of these connections are anything but small. By connecting and learning about another person, you can win their trust and reach a sales deal that leaves both parties satisfied. Of course, their children and hobbies and other “off-duty” activities have nothing to do with the product, but bonding over these things creates a real human connection that leads to sales.

Mirroring Behaviors

Mirroring behaviors is a subtle psychological technique that helps people bond and form groups. People unconsciously copy the behaviors of people around them. For instance, yawning is considered to be “contagious” and the evidence for this is immediately available. One thing is clear: humans love to mirror each other. Try yawning in a crowded cafe, and you will quickly see people copy this behavior. By consciously using this technique and copying people’s mannerisms, you build their trust and make the sales process more comfortable to both parties.

Education Opportunities

There are a variety of books available on the subject, like the famous “How to Make Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. For people looking for a more hands-on approach, there are professional courses available on the topic. Personalized negotiations training courses can be incredible tools for sales professionals looking to hone their skills in a more structured manner.

Let’s be honest—running a successful startup with a local market is not an easy proposition. As if simply generating the initial capital, building and maintaining good relationships with customers and vendors, and managing day to day finances weren’t difficult enough, there’s also the matter of getting your company’s name into the public eye.

When it comes to spreading information, the Internet is the king of marketing arenas. When consumers are looking for a particular product or service, they generally turn to Google, typing the name of what they seek into the popular search engine. The higher on the results a website is, the more likely it is to be seen, with the top listing receiving about 33 percent of the traffic. Traffic drops dramatically after that, with the second result only receiving 18 percent of traffic and the third spot receiving just between 12 and 13 percent.

Unfortunately, ranking in the top spots is difficult for local startups, as they are competing for those spots with large, national and international chains. Both the notoriety of those large chains and the amount of money they are able to pour into search engine optimization make it difficult for smaller, local companies to compete.

One advantage that local companies have in this arena is something called the “local stack,” “local pack,” or “stack pack.” Google reserves a chunk of space at the top of its results for options that are local to the user. The bad news is that it’s actually getting harder for local companies to grab those coveted top spots. Before October 2009, this local pack contained 10 results, but that year, it was reduced to seven. Then, in August of 2015, it dropped from seven to three.

In April of this year, Google began testing a further decrease, lowering the number of local results to just two and replacing the first of the original three replaced by a paid advertisement. Google has stated that nothing has been finalized on whether this change is permanent, but it does not bode well for local startups. Should this effect become permanent, local companies will now be competing for just two slots, meaning it will be that much more difficult to break into the top results.

The good news is that there are still ways for local startups to maximize their search engine results.

1. Keep Google’s primary ranking factors in mind

According to PatientPop, Google’s algorithm focuses on three main factors when determining its search result rankings: relevance, distance, and prominence. Each of these can have an impact on how high an organization appears in the results. Relevance applies to how well the organization matches the user’s search terms, and distance is based upon the organization’s physical proximity to the user. Both of these are improved by ensuring that your business’s information on its website and online accounts is up to date, so that Google can accurately assess these factors.

Prominence is the difficult factor here for startups, because organizations that are well-known rank more highly. It is far from impossible, however. This is where SEO best practices come into play. Organic link building, keyword research, and the production of high-quality content that will drive traffic to your site can make a big impact, even for local startups.

2. If you have multiple locations, give each location a distinct web page

Because proximity is one of the key factors Google looks for, you can boost your chances of being selected for the local pack by making sure that each location is distinct. If you only have your main location listed, but the user is several miles away from that site, your chances of showing up in their results are limited; however, you may have a satellite location within a mile or two. By creating a page for each site, you can make sure that Google will take note of those locations and share them with potential customers.

3. Optimize your website for mobile

Google keeps track of which websites are set up to work well on mobile devices, and it can impact your site’s ranking. In order to achieve this designation, make sure that your site is mobile-friendly. Avoid software that is not compatible with most mobile devices, arrange your links so that they can be accessed easily on a touchscreen, and size images and text so that they don’t require a lot of zooming or scrolling.

One’s ability to negotiate effectively can be the key differentiator between success and failure in a company. When put into a grand entrepreneurial scale, your bargaining skills at the local flea market or strip mall can result in an advantageous position for your brand. Negotiating, however, is not an innate talent everyone is born with nor is it something that can be honed overnight. By understanding the science behind successful business negotiations and adapting the resulting tactics based from it, a business can grow more rapidly and compete more effectively within its niche.

Right Frame of Mind

In most cases of negotiation, people go into it with the wrong frame of mind. They think of the standoff as a win/lose situation rather than a win/win. If you frame it as a win/lose, then you automatically imply a 50 percent probability of losing.

If you perceive it as a win/win situation, on the other hand, then you eliminate any chances of losing for both parties involved. This frame of mind is what’s known as the Framing Effect, which indicates that an individual reacts to a particular choice depending on how it is pictured – either a win or a loss. Do this with every business dealing you go into, from mergers and acquisitions to bulk pricing for commodities you’ll need.

Appearance is Everything

Just like how the peacock intimidates its predators with a show of its colorful feathers spread out, a business must also look fiercer and more capable than it truly is. If you are looking to improve your negotiation skills, the first stop should be your wardrobe. Earning more capital allows you to lease more space or buy more income-generating assets. Consequently, expanding your workplace and increasing your brand’s prominence through its asset inventory allows you to earn more profit and gain further inventor interest.

This technique can increase your close rate from 25 to 40 percent. This is a powerful technique you should bring with you when dealing with customers at the front-end of your business.

Negotiate Utilizing Certainty

For instance, if you are trying to bring on board a new IT supervisor, prospects will be attempting to negotiate for a higher salary than what you probably are prepared to shell out for the said position. Rather than going into a numbers war with your prospects, use the Prospect Theory. Tell them outright what you offer, such as job stability for at least one year.

This guarantee comes with a no-questions-asked clause and affords complete job stability with the requirement that the prospect accept the salary there and then. This tactic minds the fact of how humans make choices, particularly when the choices constitute some level of risk.

Training Proactively

If you have a workforce of good negotiators who do not take “No” for an answer, your business will have more opportunities for growth. Negotiations training courses, especially among the higher-ups who handle heavy deals like possible mergers and acquisitions, can be invaluable. 9 out of 10 experts anticipate M&A activity to remain strong or increase.

Preparing your company with this type of dealings will help tilt the favor to your brand. Training sessions are designed to emulate negotiations, which is important for shaking off the awkwardness that most first-timers and inexperienced negotiators have.

The science behind effective business negotiations advocates changing your psychological mindset, mainly eliminating the fear of losing, and building up the confidence you need by working on the right things at the right time. The four tactics above are only as good as the person or the company using it. Without the proper elements driving it from behind, these tactics will have no impact to your business.
