My First Online Venture – GolfChum.com
I’ve been blogging for a fair few months here on Blogtrepreneur.com and previously on my Blogger account. In this time I have managed to build relationships with fellow young entrepreneurs and I have managed to work out that money is not everything in life – building relationships and building reputable systems within the workplace are extremely important as well.
I’ve been planning various new ideas for a few weeks now, always trying to think of something innovative and novel which will catch on, and also something niched that will only be targeted at a few internet beings. Throughout my brainstorming, I firstly jotted down what I love – Business, Entrepreneurship and Sport: notably Golf. As I have already been blogging about the first 2, I decided to focus more upon the latter category, as I realised these have great potentials on the internet, where many Golfers search for discounted equipment on eBay, and read the latest news on BBC.
Another added benefit to the situation is that my brother (who likes to be called Faz), is a little genius on Gamemaker, a piece of software that allows you to make programs and cool little toys. Together, we thought of ideas that could implement his skills with golf.
Together, we came up with the idea of GolfChum.com.
The idea of Golf Chum is to provide the latest golf news and golf scores to internet golfers with ease, and without them having to open up pages of browsers in order to access real-time news. By downloading a simple program to your desktop, all you have to do is click on The Golf Chum icon in your taskbar in order to make the up to the minute golf data appear in a cleverly designed box. You can then follow the headline or score links to the appropriate pages if you want to read more.
Im proud to say that the production time of this program has been very quick, in fact, we managed to make the bulk of the system within 1 day. Also, because we were low on budget we had to design everything ourselves. I especially like the logo which you can see above, which we found on the internet and edited to our perfection. We hope the program to be out very soon, and whilst it does not look 100% professional, I think it should serve its purpose very well.
So, what do you think of this new project? Think it will be a big hit? I hope so!
