New Advertising Rates

Having been around in the blogosphere for nearly 2 years, I’ve come to realise that there is one easy and obvious way to sell a lot of your advertising; keep your prices low.

I havn’t always practised what I’ve preached though - in fact, I have always thought that keeping prices high would add to the sense of authority, and of course a higher level of profit. However, I’ve now decided to change my mind. I’d much rather prefer to sell all of my advertising spots instead of leaving them empty - as that is just a waste of screen real estate. The OIOPublisher plugin will also help me a lot by reducing the amount of time I have to spend maintaining ads.

I will inevitably change prices in the long run according to the forces of supply and demand, to always make sure that I am pricing these slots optimally. However, for the time being, I will see what happens - and hope you’ll take advantage of these great prices:

In order to purchase the post level or RSS Feed Text Ad, or if you have any other queries or questions about advertising in general, please get in touch using my contact form, and I will be more than happy to assist you.

As a final sweetener, one of my image advertisers managed to get a 7% Click Through Rate (CTR) on their advert yesterday, so if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, I don’t know what will!

The rates are definitely more than fair and, also, I would suggest promoting products as an affiliate yourself and only having one empty “Advertise Here” slot, at least until the other spots are filled.

Thanks for the suggestion Alan. At the moment, I’m trying to find the right affiliate programs to promote. I also want there to be a large number of slots available in case there’s a quick surge in demand after this post - unfortunately OIO doesn’t put potential advertisers in a queue just yet.

I used to promote BlogMastermind, and have some nice recurring income because of it - but now that it’s closed for the time being, I’m trying to find something worthy of some promotion. Any ideas or good programs that have worked for you lately?

I personally believe in promoting products I believe in and find useful since it is important that you always practice what you preach.

For example, my blog is hosted on a LunarPages dedicated server and they’ve been just great (hitting the Digg frontpage has not been an issue and that’s impressive to say the least). They are also offering a special discount coupon for my readers and have been offering it right from the start (I have told them about my business model before launching the blog, they were definitely excited about it and, as such, have offered the coupon right from the start) so that promoting them is a win-win situation.

It is extremely important that you establish a solid relationship with your partners since it’s in everyone’s best interest that things work out.

All in all, I would recommend promoting products you personally use/have used, believe in and think that your readers will find useful. Also, making sure that your potential partners offer great support is always a must.

    Best wishes,

    hey adnan,
glad to see you using oio.. am sure with an influential name like yours putting your weight behind it is sure to catch a lot of attention.. which I believe it truly deserves.. I mean the work simon has put into and the features it offers .. I was surprised it hadn’t found all that many takers in let’s say the popular people in the blogosphere..

also, a small note.. your post on economics of ad sales notwithstanding… I personally think that a website can in fact present a better ROI in the long run through brand building by keeping the cost high but giving highlighted exposure… of course you also need to have a powerful brand in the first place that others can take advantage of through association…

Simon is constantly improving his product and he will definitely be receiving some well-deserved recognition from the blogging community once word-of-mouth starts kicking in :)

Maybe while leaving the ads blanks before any advertiser want to get hock up, you might want to place several affiliates ads, especially for the 125 x 125 ads space. It will look better too, maybe just leaving one of it with Advertise Here! This will show people that your ads are always fully occupied and only 1 last space left, which create a sense of urgency for them to take action. What do you think?

Your prices really are low. Thats a good thing. I might be interested in buying a few text link ads on different sites. Can you offer a discount on bundles?
