Lenovo Reviews

Lenovo may have had humble begins in 1984 in a guard shack in Beijing, but they have grown over time. At the time, they were called Legend. Then they purchased IBM’s personal computing division as they started their overseas expansion in 2004. Fast forward to 2013 and they were ranked as the world’s #1 PC company and #3 smartphone company.

Usually, you don’t have growth like that if you are making a low-quality product, and Lenovo knows that. Not only do they make reliable computers they have a range of them. For the purposes of our Lenovo reviews, we will focus on Lenovo laptop reviews. Even in the laptop line there is a range depending on what your goal is for your laptop.

They break them out into categories of business, home and ultra-portable. For the home set, they have different levels of their Ideapad, with varying levels based on your budget and how much horsepower you need. We’ll touch on some of the business ones with our Lenovo Thinkpad review. For ultra-portable they have a Yoga series as well as some Chromebooks and some from the Ideapad and Thinkpad lines.

Lenovo machines ship with Windows installed, but it is easy enough to swap it over to Linux or the like if you are so inclined. But since that is not really in the spotlight of our Lenovo reviews, it will have to wait for its own article.

Top 5 Lenovo Laptops

1) Lenovo G50-80 15.6" Touchscreen IdeaPad

Lenovo G50-80

We’re starting out our Lenovo reviews with a good everyday workhorse. This is not to say it’s a run of the mill laptop. With its 500 GB hard drive and 4 GB of RAM, it covers you for the normal web surfing, checking email and running some applications. However, it does toss in a few premium touches like a high definition display for beautiful views of whatever media you are taking in.

At just over 7 pounds it is lighter than most other laptops of its size while still managing to keep an optical drive included. It comes with Windows 10 installed to ensure you have the most up to date Windows system available. And in order to take the most advantage of Windows 10, this system sports a touchscreen.

2) Lenovo 15.6-inch Premium Laptop

Lenovo 15.6-inch Premium Laptop

You want thin? You want light? Still expect an optical drive, webcam, and graphics to cover your casual gaming? That’s a lot to ask from a laptop and even more if you don’t want to lay out the big bucks to cover a top of the line model. Lenovo has it all covered in this Premium Laptop. It tips the scales at 5.5 pounds and is a mere 1 inch thick when closed. Yet it still gives you a high definition 15.6-inch screen and a built-in optical drive.

And if that wasn’t enough it gives you a full range of ports to connect to other systems, 3 USB ports, an HDMI port, and a VGA port. Plus WI-FI and Bluetooth, if you are unable to connect your device to this machine I don’t know that the problem is on the laptop’s end.

3) Lenovo Z70

Lenovo Z70

Alright, let’s say that you are looking for a multimedia machine. The Z70 is the one for you. We are talking power with a Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, 1 TB mechanical hard drive plus an 8 GB solid state drive. Then Lenovo tossed on JBL-designed stereo speakers to deliver crystal clear sound to match the 1080P high definition 17.3-inch screen. They tucked a rocking graphics card in the mix to ensure you’d have the power to handle 3D gaming as well.

Next, they got to just showing off, the case has a tactile feel giving you a pleasant experience just carrying it around. Speaking of which it comes in 6.6 pounds, which is not bad considering that you have a 17-inch screen. They tossed in their Accutype keyboard which is suppose to enhance your typing comfort.

4) Lenovo G50

LENOVO G50

Moving away from bells and whistle a bit, this is more of your home use to light business computer. Shipping with Windows 10 it has the up to day operating system plus a 1 TB hard drive to more than handle whatever files you need to save on the disk. The processor is fast enough to handle just about anything short of heavy gaming. While 4 GB of RAM won’t handle that heavy gaming either, it is enough to cover day to day use and some business work as well.

The best part is the price…here you aren’t paying for cutting edge or most extreme. It’s a budget friend day to day laptop. For most people that is all that you really need.

5) Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 2-in-1 Convertible

Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 2-in-1 Convertible

Alright road warrior, I haven’t forgotten you. Sometimes you need that business laptop that is rock solid and ready to do whatever you need but are thinking that 5 pounds carried for several hours could be a touch heavy. This Thinkpad is the traveling professional’s laptop. At a mere 2.3 pounds, you’ll barely notice you are carrying it. At that weight, you are still getting an 11.6-inch screen and all the power you need to run it as well as a battery that will keep going up to 5 hours.

But merely labeling this as a lightweight laptop would sell it a bit short. This has some cool tricks, hence the Yoga in its name. The screen folds all the around to lay flat on the bottom of the computer and features a touch screen, effectively turning your laptop into a tablet. No matter how you are most comfortable in interacting with this little travel companion it has your back.

Conclusion

Lenovo has a wide range of laptops to cover any range of uses from business to gaming. Let’s take a quick peek to see what they tend to include in their boxes.

Lenovo Reviews

That pretty much wraps up our Lenovo reviews. We’ve gone over some of the best laptops they offer. Now it is up to you, ask yourself what are you going to use this device for? Looking for that everyday machine to handle the web and photos? Perhaps you are the gamer that is looking for the powerful system to keep up? Are you just the guy who’s business keeps you on the road and has a sore shoulder from the strap holding up your bulky laptop? No matter what your situation is I’m sure that one of these should cover your needs.

Just remember, keep your computer safe no matter which you get. Once you purchase be sure to get some antivirus software to keep your investment protected.
