Move Over Overture, Here Comes Wordze

I havn’t done a paid review for quite some while, but when I saw that Wordze had paid for a review from ReviewMe, and that their site was about Keyword Research, I jumped at the chance to review the site. This is because lately, I’ve purchased a site, and really want to know how best I can target my competition in the niche and get to the top of Google using the information.

If you’re a webmaster of any sort, then you know how important Keyword Research can be. Unfortunately, at the start of Blogtrepreneur, I didn’t really know about these kind of analysis tools, and so started a blog straight off without taking competition and ranking factors into account. However, here’s a little quote from the Wordze site:

Wordze is a keyword research tool that is designed to give users the ability to dig deep into the keyword universe that people search for everyday on search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, and AOL.

The tools that Wordze provides do more than just give users a general idea of how often a keyword is being search for, they also allow the user to track daily trends as keywords or industries fall and rise in popularity due to seasons or events in the news.

Now at first their services seem very similar to the popular and well known Overture from Yahoo, which can help measure traffic against a certain keyword. But, unlike Wordze, the site is VERY slow and lacks major analysis and style.

See what I mean?! Now, instead of this blandness, Wordze manages to spruce up the screen a little by injecting colour from an aesthetical point of view. However, more importantly, you can filter results, check estimated traffic, search volumes and even find out about the user demographics!

Another interesting feature is the ability to target your competitor’s keywords. So say for example, I had a competing entrepreneur blog, I could see what other longtail keywords he was hitting to give myself a better chance of stealing his visitors – a bit evil but that’s what SEO is all about! To see the rest of the array of features, check out the tour.

Now, the real crunch comes down to the price. Whilst Overture’s keyword research tools are free – they are very limited and bland, much like Google’s version (which checks bid prices). Wordze on the other hand does charge for its services – but at the very competitive price of $35 per month – which is a special offer at the moment. Compare this to the $55 at Wordtracker and the $70 at Keyword Discovery and you’ll realise that you’ve actually got yourself a nice bargain!

One criticism would be that there is no option for a free trial, instead you can pay $7.95 for a day’s membership. This definitely put me off from trying out the service, so maybe they should try a new free trial strategy instead to encourage more signups.

So, the final verdict: I think it’s safe to say that Wordze really does have a good service. From the trust issue though, I still prefer sticking with the well known tools on the net like Overture. I think Wordze could help their cause by making an “About” page with information about the creator’s of the program. Also, a “Press” and “Testimonials” page could highlight their performance on a wider scale and could attract more people. I’m routing for ya Wordze…watch this space Yahoo!
