Take A Break – It Won’t Hurt

Today I woke up with a banging headache, a runny nose and a sore throat. Great stuff! It came at a time when GolfChum is nearing completion, when I’ve just started another Joint Venture which I shall tell you guys about when its up and running, and at a time when my cousins are coming round.

Could I have avoided this “run-down” feeling I asked myself? Yes I could, by simply not wearing myself out everyday playing sports and always on the run, and by taking time to relax everyday. Having a break in the middle of a hectic day at work, or a busy schedule on the internet won’t hurt. Sometimes it can even help the processes you’re trying to complete.

I’ll take an example of studying for exams, seeing as its a subject which I grappled with a month back when I was taking my end of year examinations. Do I need to take a break in between learning? Won’t that just waste time? The answer is, and we’ve heard it all from our teachers, that taking short pauses in your revision schedule will help you concentrate for greater periods of time. There’s no point in making yourself sit down to learn Biology for 2 hours straight, because chances are after the first 45 minutes, you’ll start drifting off and the revision time will be completely ineffective.

The same rule can also apply to entrepreneurship. By taking a break in the middle of an important series of articles, or whilst conjuring up a fantastic design, and by watching tv for 15 minutes or taking some fresh air outside, you may think of some new ideas that you weren’t able to think of whilst working, or you’ll relax and continue having the motivation to finish the task in hand.

Moderation is the key. Eating doughnuts for every meal of the day sure won’t help your figure or physical health and the same applies to working for 10 hours flat. Eventually you’ll get bored, get ill and get irritated and frustrated. Take a breather everyday when you’re up to your head in work, and you may soon find that you get through the day with more ease and relaxation, as you have managed to find an outlet for your stress.
