The Secret To Never Having To Say Sorry For Not Posting Ever Again!
This guest post was submitted by Ross Hill, who runs Thrive Web Marketing and has been creating websites since 1999. He has just launched Hatch That, a new website that delivers weekly interviews with entrepreneurs by email.
As Adnan said himself last week “In the world of blogging, it is a known rule never to say sorry for not writing.” Why is it a rule? Because nobody wants to hear it! We just want to get to the real information that is useful, so if you ever feel that you are about to utter those words pinch yourself and start writing an article worth reading.
Ok so the headline says you get the secret – and pinching yourself is hardly secretive. How do professional bloggers make sure they never have to say sorry ever again? It’s simple. Scheduled posting.
WordPress (and most other blogging tools) have the ability to automatically publish articles for you without you even being there. When saving a new article click ‘edit timestamp’ and set the publish date to tomorrow, or next week. When the time comes the article will be published without any further action from you or anyone else. Magic!
That’s great you say, but I still have to write the article? Of course you do. But instead of writing an article when you feel like it and publishing, spend a day to churn out a couple of week (or months!) worth of content. These articles will have to be ‘evergreen’ or ‘timeless’ ones where you don’t mention current trends and events – articles that will still be useful to read in a years time. Once you have a months worth of content ready schedule it in WordPress to publish at your set schedule – this might be daily or weekly, just set it at a similar rate to how you usually publish stories.
There will occasionally be a big news story or event that you want to comment on. When this happens you can write that post as you usually would and publish it instantly – but then you might like to go to the scheduled post and set it to publish at a later date.
Using this method you can set your blog on autopilot – I know of bloggers who have set up to a year of content to automatically publish. Then they can sit back and watch the revenue flow without them. You may have to work hard and write a lot of stuff for a day or two but when you can sit back and watch it work without you for the next month it will be worth it.
So there you have it, the secret to never having to apologize for not posting ever again!
