The Summary of My Summer Holidays
65 days ago I sat here in my study with a sigh of relief and nothing but anticipation, the summer sun and relaxation running through my body. The start of the summer holidays often brings up these kind of feelings, but this year I knew that these 2 and a half months would be different.
All through my GCSE exams and before that at Easter Time I was gearing up and getting ready to launch this blog on my own domain name with my own paid hosting. I was excited but at the same time nervous. Sure I knew that $20 wasn’t that much money, but I was determined to show everyone that making money on the internet was and is possible.
The past few months have been really fun. I managed to get this site off the ground, whilst growing the amount of uniques regularly and increasing my RSS subscription and Adsense. It took me 1 month to make my initial $10 from Blogtrepreneur.com, then it took me 24 days to make $10, then 15 days to make $10 and most recently I managed to make $10 in just 3 days! Such is the extent of my improvement.
Along with that I’ve been following the rule of diversifying. I managed to open up a golf forum – which is growing slowly but surely over at ChipandChat.com. And more suprisingly whilst I was playing table tennis with my brother one afternoon, we thought of the idea of GolfChum.com – a program to get the Latest Golf News and Scores to golfers. That has been a rollercoaster ride in itself!
The networking side of things has continued to impress me. My list of entrepreneurs has grown considerably over the holidays, to the point where there is always someone online who I want to talk to. Thanks should go to YE.com initially and YGG.com more recently for letting me get into contact with these wonderfully like-minded people. You know who you are! I hope I can continue to talk to you entrepreneurs and do business with you all.
However, I havn’t been on the computer my whole holidays. I love to play golf (notice a recurring theme?), tennis and in fact most sports that are physical and full on (we’re just starting the football/soccer season here in the UK – check out my new boots!)
I also love to socialise. Every weekend I’ve been going to events – some with family, others with school friends. For an entrepreneur this is extremely important, as Word Of Mouth happens to be the best form of marketing. Try dropping the name of your website into a conversation and see where it takes you!
School starts tomorrow. I wouldn’t say that I’m dreading it, as I can’t wait to see my schoolfriends again and talk about our summer holidays and mess around in class, etc etc. The only thing Im not looking forward to is routine. These past 2 months, I’ve learnt that everyday can be different from the last. Routine = the same = not an entrepreneurs cup of tea. By mixing up the balance and taking everyday as it comes, I’ve learnt to enjoy the “unknowingness” of life, and that’s something Im just going to have to lose as I settle into my 9 to 4 school life.
As I’ll be slogging away at school in the daytime – my blogging rhythm will inevitably have to change. This may mean morning time posts for the Americans, early evening posts for the Brits and early morning posts for the Aussies (sorry you guys). But as usual I will spend time to make this blog reach new heights as we enter the new term. We’re in the run up to Christmas time now and this is when things start to get busy. The new Adsense placements will be implemented soon, and Im going to try my hand with affiliates like Amazon. Its onwards and upwards for Blogtrepreneur!
