Tubetorial.com – Hot or Not?
Not long ago I heard of a site called Tubetorial.com that was going to be putting free videos online about Internet Marketing, Web Development and Legalities. Today it launched and I’ll be reviewing whether it was worth the hype or whether it fell short of the mark.
When I initially saw the design for TT.com it looked extremely professional and definitely looked appealing to me, especially with their introduction video. They’ve now released 3 videos all of which were suitable and relevant to me as a blogger: What Bloggers Need to Know About the Law, Why Sell Information and Be the Master of Your Own Domain!
I’ve watched all of these videos and will give some basic Good points and Bad points about the site, the content, and the display.
The Good:
I love the intro music at the beginning. It sets the tone for a very technologically advanced website. Not many sites use the video form these days, although its something that’s sure to get viral in the next few years as bloggers find ways other than words to express their opinions.
The website as a whole is easy to navigate and already looks to have some firm sponsors. No doubt this will increase publicitiy but it will be also interesting to note whether the team over at TT.com manage to get any results financially as “vlogs” and making this form of media is known to be time costly and hard work.
The actual information in the videos is clear, concise and up-to-date with what’s going on today on the net. I like the informative tone of the authors, and it seems clear that they are enjoying the topic they’re talking about. There’s nothing worse than a boring public speaker with a monotonous voice.
The videos are well animated meaning that your eyes are constantly entertained whilst your ears can absorb the bounty of information. Loads of time must have gone into these, and they really are clips to be proud of.
The Bad:
Who am I listening to? I would really like to see the faces behind the voices. Samantha is the only person that seems to have done this, so hopefully Brian and Chris will follow swiftly (come on men, you’re letting down the team!) The site also doesn’t seem to have author bios which is a bit of a shame as that could actually drive traffic to their own individual blogs and sites.
Although the wording is carefully thought out, it seems to be a bit script-like. The presenters should try and branch out a bit from their notes and add more character into their different topics and niches within the site.
While there is nothing they can do about this, the site is looking altogether a bit bare. Whether this is part of a new “Web 2.0” look Im not sure, but more content is needed. How many videos a week does Tubetorial intend to roll-out?
Overall I am impressed with the site, and I have to say that for me, the site is better than I thought it would be. Apart from a few small problems, the website is unique and should be a real hit with the gallons of bloggers that are creating their own pieces of art on the internet today. Content is king, and if produced in this medium, it could really catch on in the Blogosphere. Well done Tubetorial!
