Assess Your Previous Year

It's always great to evaluate the progressiveness you or your child has made over a year. If you see that your child has little or no progress at all, you have to know in what area your child needs improvement. Honestly and thoroughly assess areas such as comprehension levels of individual lessons on each subjects, and their strengths and weaknesses.

Maintain the Simplicity of Your Plans

In planning your child's work, never over plan and do not excessively schedule! Keep in mind that maintaining the simplicity of your plans is the key to planning lessons effectively. An indication of over planning is when you spend an excessive amount of time planning for the week.

What are you doing now?  Knowing where you are going to is critical.  Do not disregard and overlook this critical step. The moment you have written your goals down, post them somewhere. There will always be a time of the year that you will get bored and the passion you have in teaching subsides drastically. So glancing at your goals will make you remember why you do what you do.
